Life as a 1L
Well, it’s October. In a few short weeks it will be Halloween, but scarier than that it will also be the start of MIDTERMS. Da, da, daaaa – I’m rather looking forward to actually having to prove I’ve learned something these last few months…
Life as a 1L hasn’t been all that bad. I came to law school expecting a much more demanding work load, a schedule superman couldn’t adhere to, and balding within the first week. Instead, it seems rather nice. An overview of the American Legal system, 3 square meals per day, exercise, hard work with no pay, corporal punishment… wait this sounds more like prison :-/ Seriously though, law school is fun for me (so far).
So last week, I drafted a sales agreement for the exchange of something and I must say that I am rather impressed with myself. For this deal to work, I had to locate an interested buyer, negotiate the terms between the buyer and seller, and get everything signed and agreed to in writing. The initial phase of the contract was met earlier this week, with a wire transfer of funds serving as a down payment. The transaction will be finalized next month. While, I didn’t sell the Mona Lisa to Bill Gates, the item in discussion is mid 5 figures and the Purchaser asked if I was a lawyer *I’ll take that as a compliment* – not bad for a 1L…
On a parting note, I managed to get my notebook posted to this site, FINALLY! You can check it out by clicking “Fist Semester Law School Notebook” on the right column or by clicking here. Hopefully these notes will help some future student study for class and help my future website with SEO. Until next time.
